Need A Reliable And Qualified Outboard Service Mechanic?
Outboard Motors like any working engine require servicing, these outboard services address many critical areas of the outboards mechanical systems. Ensure that your next outboard service is carried out by a qualified and authories outboard service technician.
Outboard Cooling Systems
Continually exposed to saltwater, the outboard motor cooling system requires regular flushing with clean water upon returning from each and every run. This flushing ensures that all components of the outboard cooling system are flused clean of any salt and sand residue.( Be Sure To Consult Your Manufacturers Service manual for correct flushing proceedures). During an outboard service the lower leg is dropped and the water pump impeller housing is exposed, the impeller requires service inspection and replacement if showing signs of wear and tear.
Outboard Gear Boxes.
Your Outboard motors gear box houses the forward and reverse drive gears, these gears operate in a bath of gearbox oil, this iol level is required to be checked and maintained to ensure longevity of gearbox components. Fishing line that becomes wrapped around the propeller often finds its way into the geargox prop shaft seal. This line will tear away the seal and break the sealing surface to teh prop shaft, allowing saltwater to penetrate the gearbox. Line cutters are available for selected outboard makes and models consult your technician to find out more.
Throttle Cables And Selector Rods
Outboard Throttle cables and gear selector rods shoudl be inspected and greased appropriatly, to allow for free and easy operation.
Outboard Electronics
Outboard motors have over the past years become progressivley more reliable on electronics for their operation, with more fail safes than ever before, it is now less possibe to do serious harm to your outboards in teh event of a component failure or outside intervention such as blockages to water intakes. Marine electronic controls are also a big player in todays larger outboard motor ranges, with fly by wire throttle and gear shift functions. Engine guages are moving toward full electronic LCD screens and communication harnesses. All of these components need to be serviced and checked by a qualified outboard service technician.
