Accidents on the water happen regularly. The people involved never think that they would find themselves in trouble. This can happen to you. Below is a list of tips to help ensure your visit on the water is a safe one.

Never go to sea without advising a responsible person. Let them know your expected time of return.

Ensure you have adequate fuel.

Always wear a life jacket if you are alone. All occupants must wear an approved type of PFD on vessels up to

121.5 MHz distress beacons are no longer detected by satellite.You MUST switch to a 406 MHz distress beacon as soon as possible.Do not risk your life by relying on a 121.5 MHz distress beacon.

When should distress beacon batteries be replaced?
Distress beacon batteries will need to be checked for replaced prior to the replacement date shown on the expiry label.Having your beacon battery changed will ensre that in the event that the beacon is activated it will continue to function for the maximum period of time.
Return your beacon to the manufacturer or retail agent for replacement.
